Whether you are new to the world of photography or you’ve always been shooting, The Showcase School of Photography has what you are looking for! No grades and no degrees.....just fun adult education classes in photography!
The Showcase School of Photography began in January 1996 by popular demand to offer amateur photography classes in Atlanta. Our first session enrollment began with a few photography lovers enrolled in five different classes. Today we teach photography to more than 400 students each 6-week session taking one or more of a broad range of classes and workshops. Our students range in age from 18 and up and each brings his or her varied interests and backgrounds to create an amazing pool of creative energy. Our class sizes continue to remain small.
Maybe you just got a new digital SLR camera and you're ready to go out and capture the world but you can’t get the shot you want because you are afraid to take the camera off of the automatic setting- this is a sign that you need our Digital 101 and 102 classes. Many of our students have been using their SLR camera for a year or more and have decided to really understand what else their cameras can do!
Once you have a good foundation the sky is the limit! You might want to try your skills at People Photography with David Knox, or learn the art of Composition with Dean Stevenson. If you are a fan of black and white photography but don’t know how to make it work now that you’ve gone digital, we can teach you how to get the results you want without all the smelly chemicals!
For those of you who want to learn how to manage and edit your photographs, we offer beginning and advanced classes in Adobe Photoshop Elements 8® ; Adobe Photoshop for CS5® users and now Adobe Photoshop LIGHTROOM® for ultimate digital workflow! From simple techniques such as removing red eye to the more advanced techniques of layer masks and layer blending modes, these classes will help make your great photos look even better!
If you want to do something fun and creative but can’t invest the time into a six week class, try one of our weekend workshops where you will have fun learning the creative techniques of special interest classes such as nature, portraiture, urban landscapes, night photography and more!
